From first question to a written next step.

  1. 01

    Show us the scope

Send the task list or remodeling outcome, your city, and photos. We ask useful questions before anyone drives out.

  2. 02

    Use the right process

Handyman work moves toward a defined quote or visit. Remodeling moves toward an on-site scope and project plan.

  3. 03

    Approve the written plan

Scheduling depends on the work, project length, and material availability. We confirm the timing before you commit.

The Built Solid standard

Judge the work by the standards in writing.

We do not use invented ratings or unverified project stories as a substitute for clear decisions. Judge Built Solid by the scope, communication, and project discipline you can see before work starts.

Clear scope

We confirm what is—and is not—included before the work starts.

Upfront pricing

Flat rate where we can. A written range or hourly rate where we cannot.

Respect for your home

Arrival window confirmed, surfaces protected, and the work area cleaned.

Written workmanship terms

Applicable workmanship and follow-up terms are stated in the written proposal before work starts.

Two local owners

Tim answers. Josh runs the work.

Tim handles calls, scheduling, and the details that keep a job from falling through the cracks. Josh leads field work and scope. You know who is responsible before the appointment and who to call afterward.

What kind of handyman jobs do you take?
We handle drywall repairs, painting, TV and wall mounting, furniture assembly, doors and windows, finish carpentry and trim, gutters, tile and caulk, and accessibility hardware. If a project needs a specialist or permit-required trade outside our scope, we will tell you before scheduling.
Is there a minimum charge?
Most handyman visits have a two-hour minimum of $170. Bundling several small fixes into one punch-list visit is usually the best value. Larger or open-ended work is quoted before the visit or priced at the published hourly rate.
How quickly can you schedule a job?
Timing depends on the work, materials, and current schedule. We confirm the appointment and arrival window before the visit rather than promising a turnaround before the scope is reviewed.
What if my job needs a licensed trade or a permit?
Handyman visits stop at the documented handyman boundary. Remodeling projects receive a separate scope review that identifies known permit, engineering, and appropriately qualified trade dependencies and states who is responsible before affected work begins.
What remodeling projects do you take?
Remodeling is a core Built Solid service line. We take kitchen, bathroom, basement, multi-room, whole-home, and full-gut remodeling projects. Each one starts with the property, desired outcome, existing conditions, and a project-specific scope.
How is a remodel different from a handyman request?
Handyman work starts with a task list and often fits a defined visit. Remodeling starts with the desired outcome and property, then moves through an on-site scope, planning decisions, a written proposal, preconstruction, and a coordinated build.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Crystal Lake and serve nearby communities in McHenry County and parts of Lake, Kane, and northwest Cook counties. See our service-area page for current city guides, or send us your address and project details.
